Ateljé Sotamaa exists in a web of connections over which ideas and expertise are exchanged and spread, and from which game-changing innovation emerges.

Who we are

Ateljé Sotamaa is a design and architecture studio, founded and directed by brother and sister Kivi Sotamaa & Tuuli Sotamaa.

Based out of our studio in Helsinki, we create buildings, spaces, objects, infrastructure and artworks. We use ingenuity and digital technology to design projects that are unique, affordable and buildable.

We are driven by a fascination with sensation, how people experience design. We combine experiential design with criticality and responsibility. In order to make experiences seamless the studio designs projects holistically, across scale and media.

Ateljé Sotamaa is AA credit rated and a Trustworthy Partner (Luottettava kumppani) -certified company registered in Finland.

Our experience

We have realised buildings, interiors, exhibition architectures, public sculptures, and products. We have over one hundred different lighting, and furniture in production. In addition to design work we have curated exhibitions, and organised over 50 international events for cultural insitutions, companies, and universities in order to contribute to international design culture, and discourse.

Between the two of us, we have 35 years of experience in complex, high profile, culturally significant projects. We have worked with renown museums, cultural institutions and corporations as well as private clients. We do our work, we do it in time, and within budget. We are always personally involved in whatever work we undertake. When you hire Ateljé Sotamaa you get Kivi & Tuuli.
